Designing With Roses – Stephen Scanniello 
We are honored to have Stephen Scanniello, the curator of the Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden at the NY Botanical Garden and president of the Heritage Rose Foundation, speak to us about how to design and use roses in the landscape.  His presentation will feature the gardens of his private clients and the public gardens he has designed.

Ralph Moore and Hybridizing Roses – Burling Leong  
Come and learn more about Ralph Moore, the “Father of the Miniature Rose”.  Burling had the privilege of working with Mr. Moore for many years and will recount her times with the great hybridizer.  Burling owns Burlington Rose Nursery in Visalia, CA – a wonderful mail order rose nursery.

Tyler Francis and his father own and operate Francis Roses, which is one of the largest grower of roses in the US and is located outside of Phoenix, AZ.  Tyler will speak about his company and the rose growing industry and will share some of his favorite roses.

Who doesn’t love hummingbirds?  Lisa will tell us all about these amazing birds.  She leads the Hummingbird Health and Conservation Program at UC Davis and is a master bander of hummingbirds.

The Chinese Influence in our Modern Roses – Gregg Lowery  
We are privileged to have Gregg Lowery, former owner of Vintage Gardens and current curator of the 4000 roses of the Friends of Vintage Roses, describe the importance of the Chinese hybridization efforts to our modern roses.  With over 40 years in the rose world, Gregg is an accomplished and knowledgeable speaker and writer of all things roses

Public Rose Gardens – Beverly Rose Hopper 
Beverly has long been a champion of public rose gardens, beginning with her successful effort to save the San Jose Municipal Rose Garden to her work today at the Plymouth Pioneer Heritage Rose Garden.  She will share with us her experiences with public rose gardens and offer suggestions for our own Emerald Glen garden.

Have you ever had or found a mystery rose – one that you did not know its name?  Judy and Sherri will describe how you can gather information about these found roses to assist with an identification.  Judy is the volunteer editor of the Sacramento Historic Rose Garden newsletter and Sherri had the wonderful B&B Nursery in Willows, CA.
